Sakie Sato (佐藤 早紀絵, Satō Sakie) is a main character in Demi-chan wa Kataritai.

She is a Mathematics teacher who also happens to be a Succubus. Similar to her students, her Demi-human origin has several repercussions in her ability to fit, and perspective of fitting into a normal life.

Appearance

Sakie is a young woman of average height and slender yet curvaceous built, most noticeably her large bust; she has comedically had a moment where she got the zipper of her jacket stuck under her bust. She has fair skin and upper-back length black hair with bangs swept to the right side. She is considered quite beautiful, even in normal and modest clothing.

In an effort to tone down her allure and attractiveness, she is most frequently seen wearing a red track suit and glasses while tying her hair in a ponytail; this is to obscure her figure and beauty. When her glasses are off and her hair is down, Sakie (according to Tetsuo Takahashi) has increased sex appeal. Additionally, it seems she avoids getting contacts as her glasses help obscure her face.

Saki is very practical with her leisure wear at home, choosing a tank top and boxers for sleep; having no reason to choose girlier designs.

Personality

Being a succubus, Sakie's body produces an aphrodisiac pheromone. Much to her dismay, this effect inadvertently makes any male in her vicinity lust over her. Unlike traditional depictions of succubi as highly confident and driven, Sakie is timid and shy, taking precautions to minimize her contact with - and appeal to - men around her.

Sakie comes off as socially awkward, as she avoids being within 4 feet of males if she can help it. She highly admires Tetsuo Takahashi for his self control despite the apparent effect of her aphrodisiac, to which most males, even her students, succumb. The only male she feels at ease around is Ugaki.

Being a teacher, she constantly puts her students' well-being first and foremost. Kind, gentle, caring, and somewhat clumsy by nature, these qualities present the image of an ideal wife to most men, amplifying their attraction towards her and further increasing her self-consciousness. As a result, Saki wondered if she tried dating, would the attraction be solely on her looks or who she was as a person? A conundrum that haunted her thoughts for years.

Relationships

Tetsuo Takahashi

Because he resists her aphrodisiac effect and treats her like a normal person, Sakie develops feelings for Tetsuo. As of chapter 43, Saki has taken a step further to developing a relationship with Tetsuo, thanks to Kurtz explaining much of her troubles as a succubus to him.

As of chapter 80, they started going out. Though they've hit an immediate snag; with a simple hug causing her aphrodisiac effect to put a lot of strain on Tetsuo. Thus their future together is gonna have a few bumps on the path. The final chapter shows the aftermath of her losing her virginity to Tetsuo, and that despite her timid nature most of the time she's truly a succubus through and through.

Yuki Kusakabe

Saki shares a love of manga with Yuki. Yuki often brings manga for her to read. The anime makes a joke about as if Yuki is making an illegal translation with Saki.

Ugaki

An officer from the demi division who has looked out for her since she was 14. Ugaki has served as a father figure to Saki as her own wasn't able to handle raising her. Saki is grateful for Ugaki's support and is usually the only person she can confide her deepest thoughts to. He is the first male she felt at ease around, as Ugaki knows to avoid being within arm's reach.

Etymology

• The name Sakie means "already, now, early" (早) (sa), "chronicle" (紀) (ki) and "picture, painting" (絵) (e).
• Sakie's surname Sato means "help, aid" (佐) (sa) and "wisteria" (藤) (to).

Trivia

• Sakie lives in a house in a remote location, as having neighbors would make her uneasy due her aphrodisiac effect.
  • As of chapter 44, she is allowed to stay periodically at a formerly disused room at the school previously used by security guards.
• Later, it's revealed Sakie has the second most powerful of known aphrodisiac effects, hence why she so easily arouses men.
  • Kurtz reveals that normally a succubus with such a powerful aphrodisiac effect would receive financial aid so they wouldn't need to work. But Saki wants to be normal as possible.

• Sakie awakes at 4:15 every morning.
• Sakie is home less than she wishes as she is forced to take the last and first trains to avoid large crowds.
• Its vaguely implied her aphrodisiac effect is connected to her virginity; Ugaki states all his succubi cases only involved young girls (never adult women).
• Her aphrodisiac effect works on straight men and gay women; though it can work in odd ways in exposing hidden parts of a person.
  • When she beat up a bully insulting her in high school, Saki put him in a judo hold; the boy actually begged her to hurt him more, exposing himself as a masochist and losing any respect.
  • One of few female students called Saki beautiful with a sigh, suggesting she held some attraction to her.
• Tetuso notes that just staring at Saki's hair is alluring, when he was trying to avoid looking at her without glasses; her beautiful face was too much.
• Sakie has a mother whom she probably lives with and an estranged father.
